Tips for Cleaning Out your Wardrobe
The recent natural disaster in Napal has prompted me to clean out my closets, sorting everything from clothes to shoes to manchester. Once they have all been sorted I will be sending over what I can to help the people in need. Here are my tips on the big clean.
Tip 1. Start in one room with one shelf and with one section of that shelf. Pull it all out to help you sort through and see everything clearly. By doing this section by section it won’t overwhelm you and makes it much more manageable.
Tip 2. Ask your self the following question. Is it damaged, stained, stretched, or in no state to really leave the house in it? If yes, put into its own pile – for the bin!!!
Tip 3. Have you worn this in the last 12 months? I believe you have to say 12 months as we may not wear them due to different seasons. If no, put into a separate pile – for donating.
Tip 4. Do you feel good in this? If no, put into the donation pile. You will always pass this item up as it doesn’t make you feel good.
Tip 5. Don’t keep the items for the day that you will change shape or size. Live in the moment. This is who you are today. If you do change shape or size your taste may have changed and you won’t want to wear those clothes anymore. Put them into the donation pile.
I use these tips for all the other closets in our house as well and ask the other members of my family the same questions. Makes for a much more organised closet and you no longer are holding onto items for no reason. Please donate them to your local charity, church to help others that are as fortunate as you. Good Karma always goes around.
Enjoy your clean out!!
